DESIGNING THE INTERIOR OF A QUEEN ANNE VICTORIAN
Classic Design always influences my approach when designing a Historic Home.
Looking toward the past is a hallmark that defines me and the empathetic viewpoint of designing interiors. Digging deep
and allowing the act of discovery, listening to a house and what it is asking for is crucial.
– Deborah Leamann
Sophisticated and unfussy was the direction for this 1887 Queen Ann Victorian. Embracing the philosophy that to be rooted in tradition does not mean time has stood still but that tradition goes hand in hand with reinvention. The entry foyer reinforces this, with the original staircase, stained glass window, millwork detail, add a fresh foundation with the support of great art, antique cassone and a classice drum table balances the past with the present.
I designed the custom cabinetry, fireplace surrounds & mantle pieces fabricated in our workroom. The common thread, no matter what the design element, is that you must believe in the meticulous and well-made & that beauty should be woven into everyday life!
A well-curated space speaks volumes.
A well curated space speaks volumes . The vignette as you enter the Living Room offers a warm welcome. Blanc de Chine Foo Dogs, a popular luxury export in the 18th century, catch the eye. They sit proudly on a tiger maple table supporting some favorite design books. Artisanal embroideries, Hand wrought details and other soulful pieces dot the room. Bucks County artists are amply displayed. Good bones and the exquisite balance of harmony & grace envelope you.
Compiling pieces, whether new or found, leads to a happy culmination of styles that really add to creating that personal touch. Home is considered a sanctuary offering comfort, proportion and enlightenment. I wanted this home to feel like an amalgamation of collections over the client’s lifetime.
Happy decorating and “may beauty always be your muse”.
